In honor of Penn State’s Campus Pride Month, Penn State Berks will host its first Pride Prom beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Multipurpose Room 2 of the Perkins Student Center. The event is open to the public (18 and older).
Penn State student organizations and units at campuses across the commonwealth will offer events in honor of National Women’s History Month in March. The theme this year is "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion."
Penn State Berks announced has that two of its professors have been elected as 2024 INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) DEI Ambassadors. In this role, Sadan Kulturel-Konak, professor of management information systems and director of the college’s Flemming Creativity, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center, and Abdullah Konak, distinguished professor of information sciences and technology, will complete a project titled “Innovation in Operations Research: Fostering Equity and Justice in Problem Formulation.”
The last week of February 2024 still offers a few events across campuses for Black History Month, including at Penn State Brandywine, Harrisburg, Dickinson Law, Lehigh Valley, Shenango, and York. In addition, several exhibits are still available to visitors at Penn State University Park, Brandywine and Harrisburg.
On Sunday, Feb. 11, Penn State Berks will celebrate the Lunar New Year with a live performance of the traditional Asian art form of the Lion Dance by the Penn Lions dance troupe in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This free event begins at 2 p.m. and is open to the public.
“In the Aspiring Scholars Program, I became comfortable with myself. I was able to have a fresh start and have people accept me for who I am. It’s why I decided to stay at Berks, and it impacted me so much that I wanted to have the same impact and inspire other foster youth to come to college,” said senior hospitality management major Amy Yu.
Penn State Berks and Reading High School alumni and sisters Cory Varona-Corniel and Nicol Varona Cancelmo, co-founders of OCOA Beauty, will together deliver the commencement address for the Berks campus commencement ceremony on Dec. 16.
The Penn State Berks International Klub will host its first-ever Garba Night from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. The event is free for Penn State Berks faculty, staff and students. Tickets are also available for non-Penn State students.
